The return to Base Camp
May 13th, 2008 at 5:59 pm |
Sir Ranulph Fiennes stepped back into Base Camp just before lunchtime today after leaving Camp 2 at around 6.30am.
Team Marie Curie left Base Camp four days ago for their last acclimatisation trip before the summit bid.
Dr Rob Casserley said: “The thing about Ran’s descending in the past is that it hasn’t been the best part of the climb for him – but today he went like a rocket because he was on oxygen. It all gives me great confidence for the summit bid.”
The team will rest for several days while they wait for a window of good weather.
