Back to the UK

Sir Ranulph Fiennes and Team Marie Curie will today begin their journey back to Kathmandu, the Nepalese capital, and then back to the UK.
The journey to Kathmandu involves a seven hour walk down the valley to an altitude that is safer for helicopters to land.
It took seven days to walk up to Base Camp and just two to get out – weather permitting.
Keep watching this website for more video footage and pictures.

Dear marie Curie Climbers. Both my Wife and I were extremely sad that Sir Ranulph could not complete the climb to the summit of Everest. We fully understand the reason for cancellation. It is however galling when the Press here reports that 80 climbers reached the summit yesterday ( Mon UK ). Sir Ranulph we are sure made the right decision and in view of his health a very wise one. We hope he will be able to undertake his next challenge to a satisfying conclusion.
Sincerely and with kind regards to all the Team.

Did the rest of the team supporting Sir Ranulph make it to the summit with the Marie Curie flag, and are there any photos or films of them carrying on?

Ran
Congratulations in helping to raise so much money for such a worthy cause. I’d love for you to come up to the North West again if you are planning any lectures. I missed you at the Kendle Mountain Festival (the tickets sold out so fast!).I look forward about hearing what your next adventure will be. Somewhere very flat & hot maybe???
Best wishes

Sir Ran,
what can i say? you and muhammad ali….living greats!
for me the impression lies in trying.
i hoped but never thought as summiting as the dream or achievement.
the will (or courage) to try was, for me, what it was all about. a superb effort!!
