A short step from Base Camp

We know that the Marie Curie team is but a short step away from Base Camp and we wait to hear when they have actually reached the camp.
Located at an altitude of 5,380 metres, Base Camp on Mount Everest is the camp area used by climbers during their ascent and descent of the highest mountain on earth.
The team will be in South Base Camp for the next few weeks as they are climbing Nepal’s southeast ridge of the mountain. Once at camp it is important that they rest for several days to acclimatise and reduce the risk and severity of altitude sickness.
This then is a great opportunity to look in more detail at what lies ahead for our intrepid climbers. Take a look at the map for more information about Everest and to follow the team’s progress.

How beautiful and how awesome! It is wonderful that ordinary folk like me can share the experience through these reports and pictures. Good luck and best wishes.

Sorry you missed my 1st birthday party, Uncle John, but I’ll let you off this time.
Granny is watching your progress online too and we are all very proud
