Introducing Stripey Mouse – probably the world’s best travelled mouse!

An exclusive interview with Kenton Cool’s lifelong friend and climbing companion…

How long have you and Kenton known each other?

I was a present to Kenton when he was a baby, so we have known each other all of our lives, about 34 years. Apart from a period when Kenton was aged about nine to fourteen and needed to go his own way in the world, we have been pretty much inseparable.

What kind of adventures have you undertaken together?

I am probably the world’s best travelled mouse, but would be interested to hear from any others who would like to challenge that claim! I have climbed Everest five times and made about 18 trips to the Himalayas and I have also travelled widely in North America and all over Europe.

What are your thoughts on your latest Everest Challenge with Sir Ranulph Fiennes to raise money for Marie Curie Cancer Care?

I’m looking forward to it! I will be the first mouse to have summited Everest six times and I have lots of good mouse friends in Nepal who I will be catching up with while I’m there. I have also been making sure I’ve been keeping fit for the challenge, Kenton and I have been doing a lot of skiing, which I am quite good at. I am very happy to be raising money for such a good cause – as you can see I am wearing my Marie Curie Daffodil pin today.

The daffodil does look very fetching against your leather Jacket, is that a new purchase to help fend off the cold when you arrive in Nepal?

Being a naturally woolly individual I am already pretty immune to the cold, Kenton bought me this jacket a couple of years ago actually when we were at the Air and Space Museum in Washington. I fancied a change in attire and so he decided to treat me to some new clothes.
